The Downes Family

Homeowners Greg & Christie Downes contacted Evergreen Hardscaping to help in the design and installation of their new custom swimming pool. It didn’t take long for the project to come to a screeching halt. During the excavation process, a large granite deposit was hit. Traditional drilling equipment was unsuccessful in removing the deposit, so alternative means were needed to remove the stone. Once all stone was blasted and removed, excavation continued. Evergreen was able to reclaim the granite removed during excavation, and used it to not only build several retaining walls on the property, but they were able to incorporate the stone into the custom built waterfall. Antique Pennsylvania flagstone was used to cope the pool, sitting walls and firepit, while Fenoff field stone was used on all the vertical surfaces. All patios were installed using EP Henry Village Square paving stones and the seating area capped off with a beautiful custom built pergola. The entire pool surround and landscape was accented with CAST low voltage lighting and the yard enclosed using Bufftech vinyl fencing. Pennsylvania Antique slabs were used to navigate the elevation changes in the yard. This installation not only appeared in EP Henry’s idea catalogue, it was named “Hardscape Showcase” winner by Landscape Contractor magazine.
