Designing Your Outdoor Kitchen

Designing an outdoor kitchen is a creative and strategic process that involves careful consideration of your preferences, available space, and intended use.

Here are a few places to start your outdoor kitchen design:

Define Your Vision and Purpose

Are you a grilling enthusiast, a pizza aficionado, or a barbecue master? Determine the core elements you wish to include based on your cooking style and preferences.

Equally important is considering how you plan to use the space. Is it primarily for family meals, entertaining guests, or both?

Carefully Consider Layout and Flow

Consider factors such as the proximity to your indoor kitchen, the direction of prevailing winds, and how the sun impacts the area throughout the day. An efficient layout should include zones for food preparation, cooking, and serving.

Types of Outdoor Kitchens

Composite Cabinetry Installation

This is the quickest type of installation. Composite cabinetry is set in place on a concrete or paver pad and attached in a similar manner to an indoor kitchen. While it may not be the most budget-friendly option, it ensures a swift build for those under time constraints.

Framed Outdoor Kitchen

Some DIY enthusiasts opt to frame out their outdoor kitchens using wood or steel.

Given the high risk of fire and rot associated with a framed installation; Evergreen does not engage in this type of installation.

Masonry Installation

A masonry installation is the most time consuming of the three, but will provide years of worry-free grilling pleasure. A masonry kitchen involves digging and pouring concrete footings and installing concrete masontry units (CMU’s) to the designed footprint.
